STN 2017 BLOgs

3/30/17

Hi guys. Today is when my competition for STN started for Anchoring. TY, Taylor N, and I all decided to go into the first breakout session together so we don’t have to scramble to find each other. We grabbed our packet at 10:30, and went down to the lobby to type out scripts. We had six stories, and they were all super interesting. So that made things fun. Once we were done with scripts, we went to the first place we thought that would be good, but others beat us there. We ended up going up to the 5th floor, where there was a really nice outside area. However there were some high schoolers that were playing frisbee right by us and causing a lot of noise. But Taylor N and I asked them politely to quiet down and they cooperated. After around 8 tries, we got  a final draft that looked awesome, so we then exported it. We had to play it in the USB to make sure it was there. Then we went to a breakout session in our last amount of time. After the session, Waianae offered to take us to the Angels game which was really nice of them. I got a really bad headache because the people I was sitting by was yelling in my ears a lot, and the person behind me kept kicking my seat. We got back to the hotel and everyone fell asleep pretty fast.

Today was the best day of the whole trip....just kidding.  I wasn't competing today so I got sleep in. But for 3 hours I had to go to breakout sessions. Breakout sessions are where we go to different hour long presentations and learn more about media. Since I got lost with Lucas, we had to miss a breakout session but after we went to one. The first breakout session I went to was on the topic social media. The presentation was more focused on how you can tell if things are/ not fake on the internet. So that was interesting.  After that session finished, Amber had asked if I could be an actor in the music video. I had to play an outcast getting kicked out of all these groups but then having a best friend to show me that I don't need them. Then I went back to a final breakout session about finding your passion. After that we went to the Cheesecake Factory for dinner and then went to the Broadcast/Film Excellence Awards. I really enjoyed all of the films that won, even though some were super sad. Then I went to sleep. BYE!!!

Hey everyone! Today  STN  begins. The Crazy 8's competition started today and it was so stressful. To explain, in the beginning we had the hardest time finding stories. The topic they gave us was Social Justice, and it was hard. On top of that, once we got stories they weren't that powerful to the subject. And on top, on top of that Taylor N and I were having horrible luck. None of our audio worked for stand-ups. So went ran back and forth trying to get new mics. It was just a crazy day that I wanted to forget. So it was 10 minutes before the deadline and we were still editing, but we, as a team, decided to just turn in whatever we had. BUT, we exported the wrong file. See, one of our teammates had so much pressure put on them that they exported a clip of me saying a standup and messing up, not the final video. No one gave this person any trash because it wasn't their fault. We learned a lesson today that will help us in the future. After the competition ended, we ate dinner and went to the opening ceremony.  Good luck to the teams competing tomorrow!

Today was probably the best day of the trip so far. So first off, we had McDonalds for breakfast and I got a mango smoothie. Then we went to the Angels Stadium (Amber's House ;)), where they have baseball games. There, they showed us the different parts of the stadium like the suites, and many more. After that we went on a bus ride back to the Hollywood area to go the the Disney Animation Studios! It was a very long ride, so I got some rest. We got lunch then we went to the actual studio. It was amazing. WE SAW JOSH GAD!!!!!!!!! A.K.A. OLAF FROM FROZEN. All he said was "Hey, how you doin?" because he was super busy, but it was magical. I was more than stoked. I had like a fan girl heart attack. There was sketches of their animations all over the walls. We got to learn about how they animate the movie and the variety of jobs thats offered there. In the end, it was an AMAZING TOUR. After that, we headed back to our hotel in Anaheim to get ready to meet our pen pals. My pen pal was Adelina and she was so sweet and funny. To get to know them better we got to eat dinner with them at Bubba Gump. Oh I almost forgot, Taylor N. from CKTV got into the Kamehameha school on Oahu!! To sum it up, today was incredible! BYE!!!

Sup everyone! For today's STN trip we had our last day of exploring Hollywood. Now we're off to Anaheim. We started the day off by going to Bob's Big Boy for breakfast. I had a burrito. It was really good! Then we made our way down to the Hollywood Walk of Fame.  I got to see all the the handprints and footprints of celebrities in front of the Chinese Theatre. Amber and I were comparing our foot sizes to theirs. We also got to see different pink stars on the ground (I found David Bowie.)I never thought I would be able to do that until I was older, so it was pretty cool. Afterwards, we went shopping for about an hour and I got some things. A present for my best friend, a face mask, and a cute jumper. Then we went back on the bus and was on there for a whole hour ride to Anaheim. I just slept and talked with my friends. Then we reached our new hotel, checked in, and headed out to dinner. For dinner we went to an amazing place, Downtown Disney. There, dinner was our first priority so I got some really good pizza. Now here is where it gets interesting. Amber, Taylor M, Natalie, and me all went to Saphora. There we tried on all the make-up samples. In the end, we all looked like smurfs and trolls combined. Then we walked back to the hotel and our day ended. BYE!!!

Second Day!!!

What's up everyone! So today was day 2 and it was awesome just like yesterday. By the way, sorry if this page isn't as nice as the others, I'm doing it all on my little phone right now and it's very slow. Let's get right into the day! Do you like roller coasters? Well today I went to Universal studios. I like roller coasters, but now the drops that much. So I sat out on 2, but I went on a whole bunch of other ones. TRANSFORMERS!!!!!!! So I love Transformers. And it's always been my favorite series of movies since I was little. Getting to go on a ride that's based off of my favorite movie is so gnarly to me. Then we went on a bunch of other fun rides and I also saw an animal talent show, which was cool. After that I went on a tour of the sets of a lot of different movies. It was so spectacular. Also, we learned so much sick things. It was just all breathtaking. Finally, we went shopping and got dinner. To sum it up, this has been another great day that I am so thankful for. BYE!!!

FIrst day in cali

Hey everyone!!!!!! IM SO HAPPY. I literally had the best day in California today. We started off the day with breakfast at our hotel, and then we went to Warner Bro's Studios. It was incredible! I got to go on the set of the Ellen Show, Fuller House, Prettt Little Liars, La La Land, and so many more. I couldn't believe how much I was seeing. Every second I was on the edge of my seat. I was so stoked because I also got to tour around my favorite network, D.C. After this we went up to UCLA and got a tour from one of the teachers there. It wasn't really a tour because we just sat in a room with the teacher telling us why we should register to the college. It was pretty interesting and I learned some things too. Now it was time for the Lakers game. It was so aswsome and weird at the same time. To explain, it was weird because I kinda was paying attention, but I pretty much was yelling and dancing the whole time. To conclude, this day definitely put a place in my life that I will always look back to. BYE!!!
