What's up my readers? I have been watching this awesome youtuber called, "Jamie O'Brien." He is this awesome dude who rides the sickest waves and pulls awesome stunts. Check out this video!
What I find so interesting about this is one I love surfing but also all the crazy things he does, like surfing with fire on you. So awesome. If you take a look at the different camera shots you'll notice all these different angles and the difficulties to get these angles. But in the end, of course it's worth it. If I was the camera guy I would be scared to watch my buddie do this. Wouldn't you? Anyway Jamie O'Brien is definitely an awesome youtuber that you should check out. BYE!!!
Hi guys, have you ever heard about Dear Abby? Well if you haven't it's probably because you live in this generation and you don't read the newspaper. Dear Abby was a person who had their own little column in the newspaper. She would write about all these kind of stuff such as parenting advice, everyday lessons, etc. The reason why I'm talking about this now is because in media we will be getting new students and these new students will be brought into this whole new world of craziness. So I thought that I would be Abby this week and share my words of wisdom about coming into media.
To start off with, you will want to know organization. Media may seem like all movies and cameras, but being organized is what it's all about. Let's say that I have to go shoot a commercial today after school. I would need to put everything where it goes, so I don't scramble for it later and so I don't end up losing anything. In the past I have lost sd cards and that's the worst thing to lose because it has all your footage and information on it. It was really embarrassing.
Secondly, DEADLINES are the scariest thing you'll ever meet. To explain, in media we have a whole bunch of deadlines which means stress, which means you're going to act like a complete lunatic. This is definitely something that's came to haunt me ever since I joined. And of course your not going to meet some of them, but you still always have to try even when you think you're never going to get it done. There has been times where I missed the deadline and I was really disappointed in myself. I know I shouldn't say that but I was.
Last but not least, it may seem like it's not worth it in the beginning, but it really is. For instance, there is a bunch of work that goes into media. I will now list everything we do; radios, advisory games, morning announcements, news stories, extra news stories for credit, scripts, PSA's, and plenty more. I will admit there will be times where you will regret your decision but that just means you got to work harder because it is so, so worth it. From everything I learned this year it has been amazing. Just remember to keep trying.
In conclusion, media is a lot of work that you have to put in to. It takes a lot of your time up that you could be spending with your friends and family, so hear me out when I say that it's AMAZING. All you have to do is just keep trying and trying and pretty soon you'll be pro. It took me a lot of work to know what I know now and I'm happy for that. Well here you go newbies, hoped this helped you. BYE!!!
What's up? Well, I've been hearing this song constantly and I have found the ultimate video for you, so here it is, "Make Me Like You."
What's really cool about this music video is that their basing the whole story on like it's a live concert. To me I though it was a little weird in the beginning, but then it started to get cool and the transitions of the different set pieces were smooth. I like all the different themes though, it was like a whole bunch of live concerts in one video. And the lighting was amazing, all the different colors made this video really stand out. One big question that I have is how long it took them to edit this. Why I'm wondering this is because maybe the set people had to stop filming so they could transition the sets and props. Once you do that you have to make the sequences so neat that you couldn't notice they even stopped recording. Anyways Gwen Stefani is also one of my main musical inspirations. BYE!!!
Hello everyone, this week we all heard the sad news about Prince. He was an amazing inspiration and when I first found out he died I was in shock because he was only 50 something, but I also have some other inspirations too. My big inspiration is my favorite band in the world, "Hillsong." This band inspires me so much because they have so much different styles of music. To explain, remixes, worship, and hip hop.
First of all, they have been around for years and what really started my love for this band was when my church band started singing this song that I loved, which led to me searching it up, then led to me finding this band. What I find cool is that their music have developed so much in the past years, like it was super quiet and now it's bursting out with cool remixes. I love when their songs are quiet, but then goes loud.
Secondly, I am inspired by them because they have such deep lyrics. For instance, their lyrics mean so much things. One of their songs are called, "Real Love," and it talks about what love actually is. For instance it's not just like our love is true, really true. In the song it states, "Reaching beyond the skies, running deep, stretching wide, perfect love realized, here with You." To find lyrics like these in a song takes a long time and great patience because a lot of love songs these days are about kissing and all that gross stuff. (Bleh)
Finally, this band started out super small with a few musicians and a great story. To explain, the band started in 1998 as a hobby for youth in Sydney, Australia’s Hillsong Church. Because of its powerful sermons and even more powerful music, the church grew in popularity and eventually spawned locations worldwide. Inspirational songwriting and powerful concert-like performances continued to rocket the band to worldwide renown. Their music, along with their unique ability to personally connect with audiences, is now on the big screen. This, right here is one of my goals; to make a difference in music and show people that even if you start out super small, you always should dream big because one day you'll make it.
To conclude, this band is just so amazing. I LOVE their story and how they really connect with their audience. I wish I could name all my reasons for them, but I want you to experience them yourselves. And go google them because their THE MAN! BYE!!!
Hi everyone, so this week I fell in love with this song called, "Hold Back The River." The cool thing about this song is that I'm getting to do a dance for this song. To get back to the point, here's the music video for Hold Back The River.
First of all, it may seem just like a guy playing instruments. Even though it is, the story that comes with it is the best part. To explain, he has the emotions spot on and you can hear it in his singing too. Also the lighting was just amazing. Normally if you have a lot of shots, you might not have the exact lighting but all the lighting was blending in with each other and I think that's what I liked most about it. Secondly the shots were incredible, especially the traveling shots. Like how it showed one instrument than another, that was cool and it went so smooth too. Well that's all for this week. BYE!!!
Mistakes, everyone has them. Especially me, I have a bunch of mistakes that I make daily. Whether it's falling, stumbling, or even breaking something that's really expensive, I'm your girl for it. I am full of clumsiness, like if you know me you know that I'm a walking disaster. Here are my top three mistakes.
First of all, it was my first day of leg pain coming back from crossfit and I was walking down the stairs of my school. All of a sudden I just trip on someones shoe and I just stumble down 4 stairs. IT REALLY HURT! The thing that made it even worse was that there was this one teacher that just stood there laughing at me. Good job teacher. For example, have you ever did something really stupid and you gut hurt, but you were still laughing. Yeah, I wasn't laughing, more like embarrassed and in pain. It was so funny because I saw some of my friends just staring at me. So embarrassed.
Secondly, never trust you dad with any kinds of food. To explain, one night we were all having a family movie night and my friend was calling me so I trusted my dad entirely with my bowl of popcorn. Big mistake, I finished calling my friend, so I go up to my dad and say, " Where's my popcorn," and he says," Uh, I'm sorry. I hate it all." I was very very mad. I couldn't believe that I was gone for only about 4 minutes. Never trusting him again, ever again for that matter.
Last but not least, my final mistake is that I chose to procrastinate in the first quarter. For instance, in the beginning everything was fine, but then advisory game came on and radios which made our final project worse. We were struggling to finish our script and shot list. Our video was really bad not only because the story was just horrible, but also because our voice overs and lighting sucked. And in the end, my partner put all the pressure on me to edit the whole entire thing, which I sorta ended up deleting. Woops! She was so mad at me, so on the deadline day she powered edit everything and that was crazy. I was on the edge of my seat just waiting to see if she would finish it in time. WE DID IT! Our project was ready to get turned in.
To conclude, everyone has mistakes and sometimes you never know how you'll get away from them. I made huge mistakes lately that I wish I could regret, but it's too late. Anyways, stay tuned for this weeks free blog. BYE!!!!!
Hey guys so for this weeks blog topic, we have to write about getting out of our comfort zone. Normally a a person doesn’t get out of their comfort zone a lot, but I on the other hand do. Just to let you know I am very weird especially around my friends. To chose one, I remember one time I was at a dance recital and at the end we were all doing bows and I started rocking out like crazy because all my friends were. Then I’m looking around and I just see my friends staring at me. It was pretty awkward.
First of all, I'm weird so it didn't really matter but the way I was rocking out really caught their attention. Here's what happened, my friends and I started the side clap and all of a sudden one of my friends full on are jamming and my other friends start do, so me being the crazy best friend that I am does it to. I start shuffling my feet and swinging my arms back and forth. It got pretty crazy. Then my friends tap me on the shoulder and says, "MIA, MIA, MIA," and then she points to where all of them are sitting. All I could do was just stare at them staring at me. I was so embarrassed, you couldn't believe it.
Secondly, normally my comfort zone was just a few claps and a few whoops but I went all out and I didn't really feel uncomfortable. To explain, when a lot of people get out pf their comfort zones, they usually feel very uncomfortable, but I was all for it. I don't know why, I mean it was pretty crazy. I wondered if any of my friends felt like this, but they all seemed fine with it. We all were talking after the moments of embarrassment and none of them felt uncomfortable. I was shocked. Of course, I was a little uncomfortable but I still felt like I was in the right place.
Last but not least your probably what weird things. Well that's a little too much so I wanted to talk about my friends expressions. Well, they were pretty shocked and stunned at the same time. It was so funny seeing their faces. Then after the show ended I saw them and I didn't say anything because it was already awkward enough with all our make up on. We just walked away. They tried talking to us, but we were like,"Run, Run, Run." It was really funny.
To conclude, I'm glad Mr.M assigned us to this topic because it not only helps me understand my comfort zone, but if you were unsure about where you stand, I hope this helps you. Anyways, I have an amazing edit to show you so stay tuned for that. BYE!!!
Hello! So I'm really happy because I found this amazing cover to one of my new favorite songs. It's by Leah Guest. She has an incredible voice and I'm really happy to be sharing her song with you guys. Here it is!
I just want to start off saying that she is so amazing. Not only can she play the piano, but also she sings and knows how to record herself and edit all of it in the end. To me, I like how she showed the idea of different sequences within her room. That was really inspiring. When I was looking up covers for this song, I had no idea what such good covers there were, but then I saw this one and I had to show you guys. Also, I really liked the balance of the lighting and the different shots she used. Well that's all for this week. Bye!!!
Have you ever went on a trip and there was just these moments that made it the best? Well I have 3 awesome moment from the media class trip. This whole trip was amazing, but I still had these memories that made it even more special.
To start off with, one of my favorite memories was going to Six Flags. For instance, I never actually rode a real rollercoaster before, except for the fireball at the island fair. It was very different. So it started off with me being calm and quiet, but then I started screaming and it felt like my arms were going to fall off. Well at least after my head would. It was so much fun thought with all the downs and ups. I loved it!
Secondly, winning STN was a dream come true. I felt so accomplished not only for me, but also for the rest of my class. To explain, in my contest( Music Video) we got an honorable mention which was amazing that we still placed. Also in all the contests but 1, we scored honorable mention and higher. I remember when we heard this news we were screaming and cheering on everyone. That was definitely a big highlight for me.
Last but not least, I could never forget ice skating. It was just too much fun especially for me. For example, I thought I would completely fail at it, but I was wrong. I was speeding through and even one time I tried going backward. Didn't work out though that much. I probably fell about 10 times, but I was laughing cause the way I landed was hilarious and embarrassing. I now really want to ice skate again.
To conclude, this trip has been a lot of fun and there are so many memorable moments. And I'm just telling you three to give you an exact idea of all the fun. I'm so excited for next years trip.BYE!!!!!!!
Todays the day where we go back to Kauai and never see New York again, well until we fly there again. I'm going to miss it so much. But, it's going to be nice to smell the fresh air of Kauai instead of the smokey air of Atlanta and New York. I'll start off with waking up this morning. So everyone had to wake up at 6 because breakfast was at 6:30, your probably wondering why breakfast was so early. It's because the shuttles that come to take us to the airport were coming around 7:20 so that didn't really give us that much time, but good thing everyone got on. Once we arrived to the airport it was really crazy because I had a bunch of medicines with me that the people had to check and it took a while. After that was all finished we waited for probably about 2 hours for the plane, but it wasn't that bad because we got our cards back from the people who had us. My cards were super nice and sweet. I loved them so much, so thank you to all of those people who had me. When we started boarding the plane it was crazy because I had to sit in the very back, but there was FREE MOVIES. I got to watch Hunger Games Mocking Jay Part 2 and it was awesome. I didn't really have any snacks so I was starving, but then they gave out like this little packet if crackers. It was soooo spicy. I couldn't even eat it. So I just stook with my candy. Sadly, the second plane ride we had no free movies so I just watched this one show over and over agin until I was ready to take a nap. Me napping was such a bad idea because when I woke up my ears hurt so much I felt like someone just grabbed a hammer and staring whacking my ears constantly. I hated after that because the pain wouldn't go away. In the end, we got home and I was so happy to see my family and Kauai. This trip has been amazing and I'm so thankful for my wonderful teacher, Mr. Matsunaga.
